Your First Chiropractic Visit: What to Expect at Trademark Chiropractic
Walking into a healthcare office for the first time can be intimidating.
Whether you've never been to a chiropractor before or you've visited several over the years, it's normal to have questions. We don't think your first visit should feel like a mystery. We hear a lot of different questions and intend to answer most of them here.
We believe the first visit is one of the most important appointments you'll have because it lays the foundation for everything that comes after. Before we can help you reach your goals, we first need to understand who you are, what your body needs, and what success looks like to you.
That's why your first appointment is designed differently than what many people expect.
The moment you walk through our front door, you'll be greeted by one of the doctors, not a large front office staff. If you've already completed your paperwork online, we'll simply verify a few details, collect your ID and payment information, and get you checked in.

If not, don't worry. We'll have everything ready for you to complete in the office before we begin.
Once that's finished, we'll bring you back to our open treatment area. Some people are surprised when they first see our treatment space. Instead of individual exam rooms hidden behind closed doors, we use an open treatment environment that allows us to move naturally through your examination and treatment while creating a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere.
It's something many people are initially unsure about. Ironically, it's also something many patients tell us they end up loving after a few visits. They typically like being able to move around and get all of their treatment done without having to walk from space to space.
Why We Ask So Many Questions
One of the biggest differences you'll notice at Trademark is that we don't rush into treatment.
Before we think about adjusting a joint or beginning a treatment, we sit down and have a conversation. We want to know what's been bothering you, but we also want to know something equally important.

What are you trying to get back to?
Maybe your goal is getting back into the gym, playing golf without pain, finishing your wrestling season or simply being able to pick up your grandchildren again. Your goals matter because they influence every recommendation we make.
Two people can walk into our office with the exact same shoulder pain and leave with different treatment plans because they're trying to accomplish different things. That's exactly how it should be.
Your Examination
Once we've gathered your history, we'll begin your examination.
This isn't about checking boxes. It's about gathering information. Depending on your condition, we'll perform muscle testing, neurological testing, orthopedic examinations, and movement assessments that help us understand not only where your pain is coming from, but why it's happening.

We're also looking for areas where your body may be compensating. Sometimes the area that hurts isn't actually the biggest problem. Your body is incredibly good at adapting. Unfortunately, those adaptations can eventually create new problems if they aren't identified early. That's why we look beyond today's complaint. We're interested in helping you move well for years, not just helping you survive this week.
Will I Be Treated on My First Visit?
This is probably the question we hear most often.
The answer is: Usually, yes.
The vast majority of our patients receive some treatment during their first appointment. Once we've completed the examination, we'll begin treatment using the approaches we believe will provide the most benefit that day. That may include chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, dry needling, movement-based rehabilitation, or other treatments depending on your condition.

Our goal is simple. Help you leave feeling better than when you walked in while also learning how your body responds to care.
There are situations where we won't treat on Day One.
If your examination suggests you need medical imaging, if you've experienced a recent traumatic injury, or if you're showing signs of a condition that requires additional medical evaluation, our responsibility is to help you get to the right place first.
That could be your primary care physician. Sometimes it's a referral for medical imaging. Sometimes it's the emergency room. Helping people doesn't always mean treating them ourselves, sometimes, it means making sure they get the correct care they need.
Before You Leave, You'll Have a Plan
Our patients tell us what they appreciate most is that we explain our thought process as we go. We don't want you wondering why we're testing a movement or recommending a treatment. The more you understand your body, the more confident you'll feel moving forward.

We do that because we believe you deserve to understand what's going on, not just be told what we're going to do. After your treatment, we'll explain what we think is contributing to your problem, what we believe is the best course of action moving forward, and answer every question you have.
Then we'll discuss scheduling and payment options. There's never any pressure to choose one option over another. Our job is to recommend what we believe gives you the best opportunity to reach your goals while helping you choose the option that fits your situation best.
What We Hope You Leave With
When people think about their first visit, they often focus on one question.
"Will I feel better?"
We certainly hope you do but that's not the only thing we hope you leave with. We hope you leave understanding your body better than you did when you arrived. That you leave with a clear plan instead of uncertainty. And that you leave knowing why we're recommending what we're recommending.
Most importantly, we hope you leave feeling like you made the right decision. That you've found a healthcare team that genuinely cares about your long-term health. A team that's invested in helping you reach your goals, not just treating today's pain. Because that's what your first visit at Trademark is really about.
It's not simply the beginning of treatment. We know choosing a healthcare provider is a big decision. It's the beginning of a partnership. If you're ready to take the first step toward moving better, feeling better, and investing in your long-term health, we'd love to help you. Whether you're dealing with pain today or simply want to stay healthy for years to come, your first visit is where that journey begins.
