Cupping Therapy in Edmond, OK
Relieve Muscle Tension. Move More Comfortably.
Muscle tightness and discomfort can make everyday movement and training frustrating. Whether you're dealing with a stiff low back after lifting or persistent tension through your shoulders, cupping therapy may be one option to help manage your symptoms.

At Trademark Chiropractic in Edmond, OK, we use cupping as part of an individualized treatment approach. We primarily combine stationary cupping with active movement, allowing you to move through selected exercises while the cups remain in place. When appropriate, we may also use moving cupping.

Cupping isn't necessary for every patient. We determine whether to use it based on your symptoms, examination findings, and response to treatment.

Cupping is included in your chiropractic visit at no additional charge when clinically appropriate.

What is Cupping therapy
Cupping therapy uses specialized cups to create suction against the skin. Unlike massage, which applies pressure into the muscles, cupping gently lifts the skin and underlying soft tissue.

Cupping may help reduce certain types of muscular discomfort and temporarily improve how comfortable an area feels during movement.

At Trademark Chiropractic, we use cupping when your symptoms and examination suggest it may be a useful addition to treatment. It isn't something we automatically perform on every patient.
When do we use cupping?
Muscle tension doesn't always mean you're injured, but it can make training, working, and everyday movement uncomfortable.

We may consider cupping for patients experiencing:

Muscle Pain & Soreness
Muscular discomfort that makes certain movements or activities uncomfortable.

Shoulder & Upper Back Tension
Persistent tightness around the shoulders or upper back, including tension associated with lifting or repetitive activity.
Low Back Tightness
Muscular tension or stiffness that makes bending, lifting, or changing positions uncomfortable.

We first evaluate your symptoms to determine whether cupping makes sense or whether another treatment approach would be more appropriate.
How We use cupping therapy at Trademark chiropractic
We don't believe every patient needs the same technique. How we use cupping depends on your symptoms, movement, and response to treatment.

Stationary Cupping With Movement
This is our most common approach. We place cups over selected areas and have you perform controlled movements while the cups remain in position. This allows us to incorporate movement into the treatment rather than having you lie still the entire time.

Moving Cupping
For some patients, we apply a small amount of lotion or another suitable medium and glide the cups over the area being treated. We choose this approach when we believe it may be a better fit for the patient's symptoms and treatment goals.
Assess. Treat. Reassess.
We evaluate the problem, select an appropriate treatment, and check how you respond. If cupping isn't helping or isn't appropriate, we adjust our approach.
What should you expect during cupping therapy
1. We Evaluate the Area
We'll discuss your symptoms and examine the movements or positions that are bothering you.

2. We Apply the Cups
The cups create a pulling or tight sensation against your skin. We adjust the suction and placement based on the treatment area and your comfort.
3. We Incorporate Movement When Appropriate
With stationary cupping, we may guide you through specific movements while the cups remain in place.
4. We Reassess
After treatment, we'll check your symptoms or movement to help determine how you responded.

Cupping can leave temporary circular marks, and some patients experience mild soreness or skin irritation afterward. We explain these effects before treatment and determine whether cupping is appropriate for you.

Frequently asked questions
Does cupping therapy hurt?

Cupping creates a pulling or tight sensation against the skin. Some areas may feel more sensitive than others, but treatment shouldn't require you to tolerate significant pain. Let us know if the suction feels uncomfortable so we can adjust or stop treatment.

Does cupping leave marks?

Yes, it can. Cupping commonly produces temporary circular discoloration where the cups were applied. These marks are not necessarily bruises caused by an impact and typically fade over several days, although some can last longer.

Can cupping help with muscle tightness?

Cupping may provide short-term relief from muscular discomfort or a sensation of tightness for some patients. Results vary, and cupping doesn't replace evaluation or rehabilitation when those are needed.

Do you use cupping on athletes?

Yes. We may use cupping with athletes experiencing shoulder tension, low-back tightness, or other muscular symptoms that affect training. You don't need to have a significant injury, but we use cupping to address a specific concern rather than as a routine treatment for every athlete.

Is cupping included in my chiropractic visit?

Yes. When clinically appropriate, cupping is included in our standard $50 chiropractic visit at no additional charge. It may also be included in our $30 introductory visit when appropriate.

Can I request cupping at my appointment?

Absolutely. Let us know you're interested in cupping. We'll evaluate your symptoms, discuss whether it's appropriate, and recommend the treatment options that best fit your needs.
